Josh Bell very well could be in the annual Home run Derby multiple times going forward.  The breakout star has some of the most raw power in baseball.  Although he came up short last night against a tough field, Bell should have a good chance at winning a title one day.

With that being said, the Bucs have plenty of projectable power prospects who very well could make for good Home Run Derby candidates one day.  Will Craig has been one of the team most consistent power threats over the last two seasons and has the size to go with it.  Meanwhile, Mason Martin has led the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league teams in home runs this season and continues to add power each year he has played.  Lastly, Oneil Cruz may have the highest ceiling out of all the prospects in the Bucs system.  With such a large frame he could put on an absolute show one day at the Derby.

Hopefully, these three prospects continue to develop and play well in the minors leagues.  Not just for the purpose of the Home Run Derby, but it will be great to see the Pittsburgh Pirates continue to add projectable power bats to their lineup as the league becomes more and more power/home run reliant.
