Believe it or not, power does indeed win Major League Baseball games!

Power has been a problem for the Pittsburgh Pirates the entire season. After leading the Grapefruit League in home runs hit during spring training games, power has been an issue for the Pirates in the regular season.

Against the Dodgers, however, power flashed for the Pirates. This power played a large role in the Bucs take two of three from the Dodgers. Believe it or not, when a team hits more home runs they tend to win more baseball games.

Suwinski’s aforementioned home run played a large role in Monday night’s game now victory. A solo home run by Michael Pérez was also a huge hit for the Pirates. Pérez’s home run also chased Dodger started Julio Urías from the start which was key.

Wednesday afternoon the Pirate power bats were at it again. A solo home run by Suwinski started the scoring while a 2-run home run by Josh VanMeter made it 3-0 Pirates. With the game tied at 3 a solo home run Daniel Vogelbach made it 4-3 Pirates in the 7th inning. This was a lead the Pirates would not relinquish.

The Pittsburgh Pirates also collected 7 doubles and a pair of triples in the series. Remember, doubles and triples are power too, and power played a major role in the Pirates securing a series victory.
