High-A Greensboro pitches a shutout
The High-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates pitched a shutout on Wednesday. Following a 3-0 victory over the Asheville Tourists, the Greensboro Grasshoppers now own a 19-21 record for the season.
Jack Carey started for Greensboro, allowing a hit, walking a batter and striking out 4 in 3 scoreless innings pitched. Santiago Florez followed, issuing a walk and striking out 3 in 2 scoreless innings pitched. Logan Hofmann struck a batter out in a 1-2-3 6th inning, Sean Sullivan would strikeout 3 while allowing just 1 hit in 3 scoreless innings pitched.
Hudson Head hit leadoff for the Grasshoppers, going 0-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored. Dariel Lopez was 1-for-4 with a his 6th home run of the season, a walk and 2 RBI. Serving as the team’s designated hitter, Abrahan Gutierrez was 1-for-4. First baseman Jacob Gonzalez was 1-for-3 with a walk and has a1.231 OPS this season.
Endy Rodriguez started at catcher and was 0-for-4. Outfielder Sammy Siani was also 0-for-4 for the Grasshoppers.
