Curve drop a 1-run affair to the Erie SeaWolves

Stop me if you have heard this before, but Matt Gorski hit another home run on Sunday afternoon.  This was Gorski’s 5th home run since being promoted to Double-A and his 22nd overall on the season.

After starting the season on the minor league injured list, Quinn Priester has finally worked his way to being healthy and making his Double-A debut. Priester pitched 3 scoreless innings in his first outing with Altoona, allowing a hit and striking out 3.

Despite Gorski hitting another home run and Priester turning in a strong outing, the Curve were defeated by the Erie SeaWolves 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Curve are now 30-33 on the season.

Bear Bellomy pitched in relief of Priester, allowing a solo home run and striking a batter out in 2 innings pitched. Tahnaj Thomas also pitched 2 innings, allowing a run on a hit, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. J.C. Flowers then pitched 2 scoreless innings, striking out a pair. On the season Flowers now owns a 2.97 ERA in 39.1 innings pitched. He could find himself in the Triple-A bullpen sooner rather than later.

Outside of Gorski it was a challenging day for the Curve offense. At the top of the lineup Matt Fraizer was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and Jared Triolo was 1-for-4, but the rest of the Curve lineup was 1-for-23 with the lone hit being the Gorski home run.
