The Pirates couldn't slow down one of the best teams in baseball on Monday night, the San Francisco Giants, losing 14-4, but can the Buccos get back on track with emerging righty Johna Oviedo on the mound?

Pittsburgh is hanging around .500 at 26-27 despite dropping four of five while the Giants are surging, winners of eight of 10 and now 28-26 on the year. Oviedo will look to keep a lid on the Giants offense while the Pirates floundering lineup faces John Brebbia.

Will the Pirates get back on track? Let's check the odds and dish out a best bet:

Pirates vs. Giants prediction and pick

Oviedo is on a good run after hitting rock bottom earlier this month. After allowing 13 earned runs across two starts, Oviedo has shut down three straight opponents, all elite offenses at that, allowing only five earned runs across three starts against the Orioles, Diamondbacks and Rangers.

Oveido has an xERA of 3.17 this season as he has been on the wrong side of some hard hit contact, but he generates a ground ball rate of about 50%, which means that he can limit some big fly's for a streaking Giants offense.

On the other side, the Giants will go with an opener in John Brebbia, who has appeared in 23 games already this season with incredible strikeout marks (31 in 22 innings), but San Francisco's bullpen is incredibly vulnerable, bottom 10 in ERA as a unit.

I trust Oviedo to pitch to expectation and get the Pirates a win as road underdogs.
