Pirates Quincy Latimore Continues To Shine For Adelaide Bite

Quincy Latimore has a .404 OBP, .616 SLG, and 1.020 OPS

The Pirates are thrilled with how well Quincy Latimore is tearing up baseballs down under.

Quincy Latimore had another big week for the Adelaide Bite

Latimore has been cruel to pitchers regardless what hand they throw with as he has destroyed southpaws (.381) and righties (.327)  this winter.

Quincy Latimore won another RumBunter player of the week after he had six hits in 16 at-bats this week for the red hot Bite.  He also walked four times, yeh, four times.  He drove in six runs and stole two bases.   He flashed some power with a double and a triple.

The big thing I noticed was Quincy was on base in all five games for the Bite who have won four straight games.

Latimore has some nice numbers down under.  In 99 at-bats he has 35 hits with seven doubles, two triples, and five homeruns.  Q has 61 total bases, eight walks, and has struckout 25 times.  He has stolen five bases and scored 15 times.

Looking at the league leaders in the ABL-Latimore is second in hits and triples.  He ranks third in doubles, slugging, average, and OPS.

I think this kid is legit. His numbers keep rising every year, and he seems to work hard at improving himself. He reminds me alot of Tabata in the way that his power numbers keep rising yet he has good speed. Imagine the trio in the outfield for the Buccos in a few years (Tabata, McCutchen, and Latimore). Crazy Speed, .300 AVGs, and 15-25 HRs apiece… Something else from the “Young Bucs” to look forward to.

It’ll be atleast 2013 until Latimore is with the Bucs. And that’s only if he starts the season with the Altoona Curve.

The poll question [Have the Pirates done enough to address the starting pitching this offseason] could have been worded differently. The way it is now it is hard to answer affirmatively. However, taking license with the question I answered ‘yes’ because atleast they made an effort to im-prove the starting pitching.

Quincy Latimore was injured in the Adelaide Bite game on Thursday, January 6. This information came from the Bites website. It didn’t mention how serious the leg injury was. Except it did say he was removed from the game.
