Most of you know that the Pittsburgh Pirates team in High A-Ball, the Bradenton Marauders have the best hats in minor league baseball. But I bet you didn’t know the Marauders also had one of the surprise lefty relievers in the Pirates system in 2010. His name was Tyler Cox.

The Marauders started their own YouTube channel where you can see interviews like the one below of Cox.  Cox made a successful jump to Bradenton this season and threw 62.1 innings and allowed just 46 hits. He struck out just over 10 batters per nine innings and allowed 6.6 hits per nine. He talks about being consistent, working ahead and also gives an insane Bears prediction.  Check it out.

The Marauders keep an active website and it’s always cool to stop over and see what is going on.  The site has live chats with players throught Spring Training and during the Florida State League season as well.

The first chat of 2011 is happening today with Brian Leach.  You remember Leach as the player who gave up Bryce Harper’s first professional hit in the Arizona Fall League.  If you don’t you should, it will be the real answer in Trivial Pursuit one day.  Read about Harper’s big day in our story below…

While in the AFL in 2010,  Leach worked with All-Star Ricky Bones, and he didn’t allow an earned run in 10 relief appearances.  He was Houdini in several of those, but always was able to force groundballs to the tune of– 2.29 GB for every FO.

Questions begin at 1:45 at the website below and Leach will answer at 2pm.
