By Tom Smith
The Adealide Bite
are on the verge of grabbing the inaugural Australian Baseball League title after they rallied to beat Perth Heat 4-3. It gives the Bite a one zip advantage in the best-of-three series.
Behind a well balanced eleven hit attack Adelaide got solid production throughout their lineup and in the fifth inning took a three-run lead. The Heat kept the pressure on, but couldn’t push the tying runner across the plate leaving two runners stranded in the bottom of the ninth.
Quincy Latimore batted fourth, played left field and went two-for-four with two singles. In the crucial fifth inning, Latimore kept the pressure on Perth after the Bite had already scored three runs. Latimore singled to put runners on first and second with one out. A double play ball thrwarted any further Bite damage.
