Pirates Caffeine: Jameson Taillon, Bryce Harper Showdown?

facebooktwitterreddit

Jameson Taillon might be just what the West Virginia Power need.

The big right hander joined the team in North Carolina where the Power were swept in a hard fought five game series. Taillon threw on Thursday and seems to be in line to pitch tomorrow or Wednesday in Charleston.

With the Hagerstown Suns in town, Taillon could face the phenom Bryce Harper who has come alive with two bombs in the past two games. Figures. When we went to the opener in Hagerstown, Harper didn’t hit a ball out of the infield.   [Some advice for Taillon, the breaking ball puzzled him in Hagerstown’s opener]  But now the left handed hitting Harper is batting over .300 with three homers on the year.

It should be good times.

Fan Graphs took a look at Brandon Wood. The kid is being analyzed more than an abducted human in an alien spaceship. Unfortunately, nothing good has been found.

Aaron Baker found something good. A first inning grand slam for the Bradenton Marauders, one of three hits on the day for Baker.

Josh Harrison had two hits and played some nice third base, but Indy couldn’t put it all together against the Columbus Clippers.  Brian Burres gave up eight hits in 3.2 innings and threw 72 pitches.  Daniel Moskos threw a scoreless inning of relief.

The Tribe had plenty of chances, but were 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Jose Ascanio did not receive a concussion, but simply a bruise and a headache.
