Andrew McCutchen hit his second walkoff homerun of his career.

The franchise

and I headed over to the game tonight on a whim.  We’re really glad we did.   He overloaded on cotton candy while I got to watch a never-say-die Pirates’ team reach a milestone in their 2011 season.

When Andrew McCutchen’s homerun landed in the left field seats, everyone exploded.

By the way, PNC Park is a cool place to watch a winner.

Paul Maholm was tremendous.

Hell, everyone that pitched for the Pirates did a nice job… well, everyone except Jose Veras.  The PNC faithful screamed that he sucked as he walked off the field with two Snakes on the bags.

Tony Watson was fresh from an Indy callup,  and his folks drove all night from Iowa to see him. He took care of the mess Veras left behind with some unbelievable pitching, striking out two.

Watson made Hurdle look like a genius or as Hurdle said a man playing with ‘live ammo’

Joel Hanrahan was ultra efficient and made Roberts look silly.

Daniel McCutchen took care of the rest.

Cocktailsfor2’s man-crush Jose Tabata had four hits.

We saw some sharp fielding from both the Pirates and the Diamondbacks.

Pittsburgh Pirates’ fans understand that this has been a long time coming.  In fact, the Pirates are 30-30 for the first time since June 11, 2005.  A season that ended with 95 losses by the way, so let’s not get too caught up in the .500 chase.
