Pirates Garrett Jones Walks Off Cardinals

The Pittsburgh Pirates

got an interesting mix of production last night.  A three-run bomb from Andrew McCutchen avenged his misplay earlier which had led to the St. Louis Cardinals grabbing a 1-0 lead.

Pirates starter Jeff ‘the Zombie’ Karstens was mowing down bad guys and even struckout three of the big first five.  He was cruising until the misplay by Cutch.

But the sixth inning hit like a brick wall and Prince Albert hit the customary solo jack.  A walk to Lance Berkman followed and David Freakin Freese hit a double.

Jason Grilli got the Bucs out of the jam.

Joel Hanrahan gave up a run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly, but Neil Walker got just enough wood on the baseball to tie the score–a dramatic solo bomb in the bottom of the ninth.

But it was the legend, el legend, GFJ, Bam Bam, Garrett ‘GI’ Jones who took the game out of home plate umpire Jerry Meals hands with his bomb in the 11th inning.  It was even better for GFJ because it came off Arthur Rhodes, who actually owned Jones over his career.
