Color us surprised. It appeared that Lincoln didn’t have his best stuff although the movement was strong.  Did Lincoln also change his arm slot?  Sure does look like it to us, but we didn’t hear anything about it?

Nevertheless, Lincoln was still was able to keep the Cardinals off the scoreboard.  Well, let me rephrase that, Lincoln had a huge curveball when he needed it to get Skip Schumacher to strike out when he was in the most serious jam.  (Check out that video link to see it again, damn it’s beautiful.)

The Pirates offense keeps on showing signs of life as they punished Chris Carpenter scoring seven runs.

The Bucs gave Lincoln all he would need in the second inning when Garrett Jones doubled and was plated by Josh Harrison.

The offensive juggernaut continued in the fourth inning when Shake it to Rake it Andrew McCutchen started the inning with a double. Neil Walker walked and once again GFJ doubled.

Josh Harrison plated Jones and Walker to make it 4 zip good guys.

It’s always fun to watch Lincoln at the plate and he didn’t disappoint as he doubled in Harrison.

Walker followed with an opposite field 413 foot bomb in the fifth inning.  It was Hometown’s eleventh homer of the season.

Lincoln had another excellent plate appearance in the sixth inning and took off his elbow pad after earning a walk. McCutchen plated Lincoln with a single.

Hot. Rod. Lincoln gave up six hits, struck out four and allowed just one walk.

The Danimal, Daniel McCutchen threw two innings of scoreless relief and the King, Chris Resop finished it in the ninth.
