Pirates Lee Gets Payback with Grand Slam to Seal Comeback Win

Carlos Marmol stood

on the mound in the middle of a self made mess.  Each sack had a Pittsburgh Pirates player on it with their eyes on the teammate coming to the plate.  It was Derrek Lee who was playing well in his first game off the disabled list, but it was about to get better.

As you might remember on August 3, it was Marmol who busted his former teammate and put him on that DL with a broken bone in his left wrist.

Yesterday, Lee patiently waited on a couple pitches and when Marmol made another mistake, the Chairman sent it over the fence in left field, not even making it to the soggy left field seats.  But it was enough to break the hearts of the roughly sixteen Cubs faithful still in Wrigley Field after a 91 minute rain delay.

It’s a damn shame Cocktailsfor2 rolled out and missed Lee going off against his former team.  Lee has hit three bombs since being traded to the Bucs–all of them are off Cubs pitchers.

The Pirates motto this year seems to show no fear against the nasty Marmol.  The right hander dropped to 0-2 in nine games against the Bucs with a gaudy 8.64 ERA.

The Bucs got solid pitching from Chris Leroux, Chris Resop, and Hanranator.  Ross Ohlendorf started and somehow stranded Cubs runners in each of his first five innings.  The Cubs went 2-for-15 with runners in scoring position.
