Unfortunately there will not be any more cool videos of Robbie Grossman doing cool things in the Arizona Fall League this year. The Pittsburgh Pirates simply don’t catch a break. The breaks seem to catch them.
Robbie Grossman has a broken hamate bone in his hand. Grossman hasn’t played since November 8. When we turned on the MLB Network tonight to check out the Mesa Solar Sox game, we figured it out.
It doesn’t take long to recover from such an injury. However, the production a player provides after such surgery is a flip of a coin. Starling Marte bounced back nicely. Other players haven’t.
Grossman tore up the Arizona Fall League and his season ends with the Bucs outfielder having 20 walks, an average of .375, twenty runs scored, 39 hits and seven bombs. His .472 OBP and 1.097 OPS are currently good for top five in the league.
The Bucs outfielder produced more in the AFL than current Pirates star Andrew McCutchen, in case you are keeping track.
