March Madness: Pirates Burnett Will Have Surgery

facebooktwitterreddit

Let’s face it,

this isn’t the dream you had for the 2012 season was it? AJ Burnett has fractured his right orbital bone during the Sweet 16 of the 2012 Pittsburgh Pirates Bunting Championship.

Sometimes, we think this is all a cartoon episode.  Bucco fans are Wile E. Coyote.  And we’re getting our asses kicked.  But heh, just like that tough son-of-a-bitch Wile, Pirates fans don’t give up easy.

We like it!

We love it!

We want more of it!

Make it hurt Road Runner, make it hurt!

Burnett will have surgery on his right eye tomorrow in Pittsburgh. The Pirates didn’t issue any other information such as recovery time or visitation times. We presume Burnett’s recovery will depend on how well the surgery goes.

Pirates fans were anxious to see Burnett in action.  Burnett came across as a very likeable player.  He spoke glowingly of the opportunity and sounded genuinely pleased to be a Pittsburgh Pirate.

The right hander was scheduled to pitch against the Toronto Blue Jays at McKechnie Field in front of Mayor Luke this weekend.  But now we will wait around for Burnett’s swelling to go down.

But as bad as this news is, it certainly could have been much, much worse.

Beep! Beep!
