Jayson Stark: Pirates Andrew McCutchen Named MVP of the Half-Year

facebooktwitterreddit

Andrew McCutchen always has received a little bit of national attention. ESPN has always seemed to know that Andrew McCutchen was the guy.

Hell we all do as Bucco fans.  I remember talking to Howard Bryant, and even being quoted in his article.

"“It looks like [Huntington] is all in,” said season-ticket holder Tom Smith. “It’s awfully hard to do what he did because if it doesn’t work, he could not only be out of the Pirates, but out completely. I think it’s the way we have to go. A lot of the older guys didn’t want to be here. Eric Hinske? He couldn’t wait to leave.”"

The article Bryant wrote in 2009 basically called into account all the errors of the past, and he claimed the Pirates were still lost at Sea.  We think he changed the title since then, but whatever it’s still fun to go back and read now.

So the coverage three years later is different.  Way different.  Jayson Stark has some powerful arguements for making McCutchen his MVP.
