Happy Friday the 13th Pittsburgh Pirates Fans!

If you’re a Pittsburgh Pirates fan, there are so many things to be happy about on a day like today.
The most important is the fact that the team is in first place in the NL Central.

The Pirates take on the Milwaukee Brewers in Milwaukee tonight with ace James McDonald on the mound.

The Brewers are facing a vital ten days.  The team plays nine games against the Bucs, St. Louis and Cincinnati.  It should tell the tale of whether the Brew Crew buy or sell at the deadline.

Some big news will happen later today.  The Pirates first-round pick Mark Appel has until 5pm to sign his contract.  Knowing Scott Boras we would anticipate finding out the news around 4:59pm this afternoon.

The team is pretty healthy heading into the stretch run, much more so than last season.   The team is mentally stronger than last year at this time.
