The Pittsburgh Pirates are inquiring on several players as the ML Baseball Trading Deadline arrives.  But this is the first we have heard of another team checking in on a Pittsburgh Pirates player.

Rob Biertempfel sent this tweet last night regarding Kevin Correia.   The Pirates right hander is due to be a free agent at the end of the season.  He lives in San Diego in the offseason.

    • Could RHP Kevin Corriea help stabilize back end of Angels’ starting rotation? Perhaps. #Pirates fans who were eager to jettison Correia after his 1-5 start probably feel differently now that he’s won his past four decisions. Angels and Bucs have discussed swap that would send a veteran pitcher to Cali in deal that would include a high-end prospect. Larry Corrigan, former Pirates special asst who now scouts for Angels, watched Corriea pitch tonite v. #Brewers @ Miller Park.

not sure if that tweet suggest Pirates would give up high end prospect or get one in return, but if the Pirates were to get a “high end” prospect for Correia, that would be well, interesting to say the least

Exactly my thought process. Either way doesn’t make much sense, unless the Bucs get a big league upgrade from the Angels and send over a prospect and Correia in return. But yeah, if they unloaded Correia on the Angels AND got a high-end prospect in return there would be no end to my ecstasy.

Maybe the Dodgers will make an offer for Correira after one of their starting hurlers Billingsley may be down for awhile or longer…??? I’d take Padres OF Carlos Quentin for Correira in a heartbeat! Pirates have a bunch of pitchers stacked up at AAA that deserve a look and their big prospects Cole and Taillion are not far behind as well.
