Whenever the Pittsburgh Pirates win a game, it’s very easy to say it was “the biggest win of the season.”  Each series is the biggest PNC Park has ever seen.  Every road win from here on out is the most important since 1992.  Yeah, we get it.  But just putting that all aside for a moment… hit play on this video, get off your ass and start dancing–just change the words a little bit so it becomes the Return of JMac!

McDonald moved carved up the potent St. Louis Cardinals lineup last night.   Just like he did so effortlessly in the first half of the 2012 season, the Pirates right hander located his fastball and then put hitters away with his breaking ball.

Before the game, A.J. Burnett – who has been JMac’s wingman since the Bucs picked him up from the NY Yankees – told him to have fun, and it’s pretty obvious that he did.  After the game, the quote that stood out to us was when McDonald said,

"“I didn’t try to think ‘Why this?’ or ‘Why that? I went out there and tried to have fun and play baseball instead of making it something more difficult than it is.”"

Brilliant.

The three walks were frustrating to watch, but he did throw 54 of his 87 pitches for strikes and had seven punchouts.  McDonald went six innings, pitching scoreless baseball and giving up just two hits.
