Pittsburgh Pirates Name Pitchers For First Spring Training Games

Pittsburgh Pirates set their pitching staffs for this weekends games.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have named their starters for the first weekend of Spring Training.  Oh, and damn is it beautiful here.  Even if it wasn’t you know I would probably stretch the truth a little bit.  But seriously, it’s nice.  There is no snow.  It’s a bit breezy that’s all.  So let’s get back to the real deal here in Florida.

The Bucs are going to trot out the man we really want to see on Sunday when the club will start James McDonald against the Atlanta Braves at McKechnie Field.     JMac is the pitcher we are really interested in seeing.  He is followed by another arm that we are looking forward to seeing and that’s lefty  Jonathan Sanchez.

Jason Grilli, who apparently believes bloggers are the devil will follow along with newcomer Mark Melancon.

Tony Watson, Jared Hughes, Justin Wilson and Maybe Reid will finish up the weekend.

Keep an eye on that Mabye Reid fella, we hear he has a nasty knuckleball.

In the lid lifter of Spring Training at the beautiful Port Charlotte ballpark Jeff Locke will get the start against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Locke is in the mix for the fifth starter spot in the rotation with Kyle McPherson.  Unfortunately, McPherson isn’t listed to compete this weekend.  Maybe he will throw Friday in the Black Gold scrimmage.

Chris Leroux, Bryan Morris, Mike Zagurski, Duke Welker, Vin Mazzaro, right hander Brooks Brown, and Maybe Reid will also be pitching to kick off the weekend.
