Neil Walker knows how to buy his teammates great gifts.

Everyone knows Neil Walker is from Pittsburgh.  He’s been called The Mayor by his teammates, and with the current establishment in the city, Walker might be a fine candidate.

To commemorate the Pittsburgh Pirates clinching their first playoff appearance in twenty years, the Bucs’ second baseman gifted each of his teammates an engraved bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label – a blend created for celebrating once-in-a-lifetime moments.

The Hometown Kid and first round selection of the Pirates in the 2004 draft, Walker has been witness to the organization’s playoff drought for the majority of his life. He toasted the team’s significant accomplishment while reminding them to keep walking, as tomorrow brings the playoffs, and another chance to make history.

About why Neil gifted his teammates:

"“Our team has worked hard to put ourselves in the position we’re in today. Overcoming a tough division, along with twenty years of Pirates’ history, to secure a winning season and capture the playoff berth is a tremendous accomplishment for our entire organization. We’re pleased, but we’re not satisfied. We know that this was only one step in our journey. It’s the next steps – during the playoffs and beyond – that will truly define us. I gifted each of my teammates a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label to remind them it’s not over yet, we need to Keep Walking.”"

On the latest Podcast Extra, Walker told Cocktails that his end-of-season drink – whenever that finally happens – will be a glass of Johnnie Walker. We suppose that if it’s good enough for him, it’s good enough for his teammates.

Neil Walker has been on a tear since handing out the presents.

Smart man.  Keep up the great work, Mayor.
