Neil Walker crushed a walk off home run over the Roberto Clemente wall in right field to give the Pittsburgh Pirates a 1-0 win.  Here is the GIF from @ClimbtheWall

Just enjoy that for a little while.

The Chicago Cubs had plenty of opportunities to defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates. Here is a recap of the Cubs performance with runners in scoring position.

Francisco Liriano struck out ten Cubs in his six shutout innings in first start of the season looking exactly like Pirates fans remembered him last season.

The Cubs Jeff Samardzijza fired seven shutout innings in his typical ownership of the Pirates offense. It’s hard to understand just how poorly the Pirates hitters do against the Cubs right hander. But unlike last year when the Bucs fell on Opening Day 3-1 to the Cubs.

We tweeted that Barry Bonds should have grabbed a bat and a helmet because it looked like the Pirates didn’t have an answer for any Cubs hurler. Walker kissed it goodbye for the victory. It was a helluva day in Pittsburgh and the first walkoff win on Opening Day since 1965.
