Pittsburgh Pirates right handed pitcher Gerrit Cole will be making an appearance on MLB Network.

Tomorrow, Saturday, May 20, Gerrit Cole will be on the MLB Network show Play Ball, and it will air at 10:00 am Eastern.  Play Ball is a show that airs every week, and it features notable names throughout baseball.  The format of the show allows players to share how they reached the Major Leagues, give advice to youth ball players to help their game, and go one-on-one with an analyst from the Network providing a demonstration.  So far this year, Play Ball, in its second season, has featured World Series champions Anthony Rizzo and Dexter Fowler, 2016 impactful rookie Trea Turner, elite defenseman Billy Hamilton and Kevin Kiermaier, and Seattle Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager.

This week, Gerrit Cole, who possesses a 2.84 ERA, will be on with former three-time all-star pitcher Dan Plesac.  One of the things the two all-star pitchers discussed was pitching mechanics.  Cole said on mechanics that,

“The main focus is to stay over your legs, so you can generate that power from the ground.”

Below is a preview in which Cole discusses pitching, starting off with how he likes the mound, why he likes it that way, and what the hard throwing pitchers do.

Gerrit Cole also discusses what his favorite team celebration has been.  The Pirates have gone through the Zoltan Z, the shooting of the guns, the hook, smart hitting, and now spinning the turn tables and dropping the beat.  He shares his favorite moment so far with the Pirates, one all Pirates fans can agree with.  Furthermore, Cole shares a message with advice for young kids.

Also on the Play Ball, Cole discusses what moment he felt that he made it and belonged.  Plesac also asks Cole what his favorite park is outside of PNC, Cole still gives love to PNC Park, but his answer should not be a surprise, as he has posted a 2.29 ERA in eight career starts.
