Neil Walker Messes With Bixler

Scott McCauley sounds like a guy Pirates fans need to meet.  If you haven’t read his blog, I would

bookmark it, get an RSS feed, whatever it is that keeps you informed.

"UTIL Neil Walker is in a similar boat to for the long haul as long as he plays everyday.  So far, so good and you can see the results at the plate with an un-Neil like 5 walks and zero strikeouts.  The major surprise is his play at 2B.  Last season Neil went out trying every night to go 4 for 4 and push his way into the Pirates plans.  That didn’t work out.  This season he is prepared to wear an Indians uniform.    I believe Neil’s offensive numbers…..click here to read the rest, it’s a cool story about what Walker did to his former roommate Bixer…."

At AAA this season, Walker hasn’t struckout and has six walks.  He is batting .300, but his OPS is .912 against RHP, .810 total OPS.  If you were to look back to last season, he was called up to the Pirates after going on a monster tear at Indy.  He is now back at AAA, with an entirely different approach.

Remember, Walker was not happy at all with his performance in the Pirates unifrom.  He appears to be taking care of the performance part of that equation.

A little perspective on his hot run  for all of you readers who doubt the talent Neil Walker has.  From July 30 until his first career Major League call-up on September 1, Walker collected 34 RBI which tied him with Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard for the largest total in all of Professional Baseball during that period.

We will ask Neil for an interview this year and get some answers for you from your questions.
