Pirates Pedro Alvarez Heating Up

facebooktwitterreddit

After striking out six times in seven at-bats against the Oakland A’s, Pedro Alvarez has settled into the Pirates lineup.  In the past ten games, the Pittsburgh Pirates rookie third baseman has spiked  his

on-base percentage from .179 to an improved .263.  Pedro’s slugging has jumped from .171 to .333.

Perhaps it was the ‘day off’ he was given in Oakland when he wasn’t in the starting lineup.  He was asked to come into the game late as a pinch hitter and earned a walk to start a ten game on base streak.  Maybe Alvarez is feeling more relaxed, whatever the reason, the numbers are improving.

Last night in Houston, he walked twice but had a big strikeout and left three Pirates on base.  His eight game hitting streak was snapped.  But we are starting to get a glimpse of just how much of an on base machine Pedro Alvarez will be for the Pirates.

I plan on enjoying every second of it.
