is getting closer to returning to the Pittsburgh Pirates. For the third consecutive year, Doumit is at Indianapolis on a rehab assignment.
But the burning question in Pittsburgh is will Doumit bump Michael McKenry from his starting cather role when he returns? Well, check out this article below before you make up your mind. Obviously if a 1B isn’t acquired in a deadline deal, this could really be interesting. Real interesting.
Do you recall when Doumit played first? We do. It’s scary shit. We have a difficult time thinking Doumit can make it happen. He isn’t playing outfield while in Indy, he is catching and being the DH. Today he is scheduled to catch, so it’s hard for us to imagine anything coming of this. No wait, we trust nothing comes of this.
More importantly, Doumit will need to get his timing back before any consideration is given to teaching him how to be a big league first baseman as his hitting hasn’t exactly impressed to this point.
