Pittsburgh Pirates Send Pedro Alvarez Back to AAA

The Pedro Alvarez

drama continues today as the Pirates have sent their young third baseman back to AAA Indianapolis.

The Bucs have recalled outfielder Jose Tabata from his rehab assignment and reinstated from the 15-day disabled list.  Tabata has been sidelined since suffering a left quad strain in the game against the Boston Red Sox on June 26.

Tabata had an impressive rehab stint, as he hit .293 (12-for-41)

The outfielder was 11-for-33 (.333) with six doubles in nine games with Triple-A Indianapolis.

Alvarez struggled mightily in his return to the big league club.  On the Neal Huntington Show Sunday, the Pirates GM said he can see that Alvarez has made adjustments to his swing and has been impressive in batting practice.  But the adjustments have not been carried into the games.

Let’s trust this gets resolved sooner rather than later.  Alvarez is a huge piece of the Pittsburgh Pirates puzzle.
