Pirates Rock Star Andrew McCutchen Cowboys Up at American Music Awards

Andrew McCutchen is the Pittsburgh Pirates rock star and the National League MVP took his show to the American Music Awards.  Yeh, you read that right, Cutch was a presenter at the star-studded show so Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Taylor Swift–who got her 12th AMA got to see what Pittsburgh loves so much.  The music stars got to hang out with the Bucs star who presented the award for Favorite Country Male Artist to Luke Bryan.

It was announced last week by Dick Clark Productions that McCutchen would present at the American Music Awards.  Cutch, his agent and the Pittsburgh Pirates blew up twitter with the announcement.  It was damn cool to see Cutch with the likes of Heidi Klum, Jeremy Renner, Imagine Dragons and of course Katy Perry who opened tore up the shows opening performance.  The fact that the Silver Slugger winner took the stage after The President RKelly and Lady Gaga was well, even better.

Rapper Pitbull was the host of the huge party.  Mr. Worldwide also performed his new single, “Timber,” with Ke$ha.  We haven’t seen what Miley Cyrus will do to close out the show, but stay tuned.

Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, One Direction, and Florida Georgia Line also were on the big stage along with the rumored reunion of TLC.  RIP Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.

Similar to how McCutchen won the opportunity to be coverboy for MLB 13 The Show,  Rap duo Macklemore & Lewis had six nominations thanks to a fan vote that included Twitter voting.  Timberlake and Swift had five nominations.

But in the eyes of Pirates fans, Cutch stole the show.  We don’t recall Barry Bonds ever presenting at the AMA, but it is the A(ndrew) M(cCutchen) Awards and maybe Bonds couldn’t find a cowboy hat to fit that giant head?
