Right-handed pitcher Yimi Garcia

The last relief pitching option I would like the Pittsburgh Pirates to consider is right-handed pitcher, Yimi Garcia. Garcia is only 31 years of age will become a free agent after this season. During the regular season with the Houston Astros, he finished the year with a 4-9 record in 57.2 innings pitched.

In the regular season, Garcia had a 4.21 era in 62 games with Houston. He finished the season with 15 saves, 60 strikeouts, and a 1.16 WHIP. He only walked 7.6% of the batters faced and had a strikeout rate of 25.3%. He also had a 40.0% ground ball rate. He ended the year with a 0.4 WAR and a 3.88 FIP.

Garcia would be a perfect addition to a bullpen that is very thin at the moment. The Pittsburgh Pirates cannot continue to have the likes of Nick Mears and Kyle Keller in the bullpen if they want to start to win.

Yimi Garcia had a contract of $1.9 million for the 2021 season. The Pirates should easily match or offer more to get somebody like him in the bullpen for the 2022 season. Any of these 3 options would help the Pirates and would show the fans they want to turn a corner for next year.
