Pittsburgh Pirates Single-A teams go 1-1
For the second time in three nights High-A Greensboro was blown out by the Rome Braves. Following an 11-0 loss, the Grasshoppers are now 7-10 on the season. This loss came two days after a 17-0 loss against the Braves.
Endy Rodriguez started in left field and was 1-for-4 with a double. Catcher Abrahan Gutierrez was was 1-for-3 with a walk, shortstop Maikol Escotto and third baseman Dariel Lopez each had a hit as well.
Santiago Florez started for the Grasshoppers, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits, 2 walks, a home run, and 3 strikeouts in 3.1 innings pitched. Wandi Montout allowed 3 runs on 3 hits including a home run in 2.2 innings pitched. Ricky DeVito also allowed 2 runs in 1 inning pitched.
At the Low-A level the Bradenton Marauders improved to 11-7 on the season with a 3-2 11 inning victory over the Dunedin Blue Jays. Tsung-Che Chen continued his strong start going 2-for-4 with a a walk, a double and a RBI. Second baseman Brenden Dixon was 1-for-5 with 2 RBI. Jase Bowen was 2-for-4 with a double and Sergio Campana was 1-for-4 with a double as well.
Valentin Linarez started for the Marauders, allowing a run on 4 hits, 2 walks, a home run, and 5 strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched. Cristian Charle followed, allowing a hit, issuing a walk and striking out 2 in 3.1 scoreless innings pitched. Wilkin Ramos allowed 2 hits and struck out 4 in 2 scoreless innings pitched. Yunior Thibo allowed a run on a hit, walk and strikeout in the top of the 11th inning.
