Michael Chavis needs to play every day

Michael Chavis was once a first-round pick by the Boston Red Sox. When Chavis was drafted Ben Cherington was the general manager of the Red Sox. Cherington is now the general manage of the Pittsburgh Pirates and it appears Chavis may finally be finding his stride.

Chavis had another big series over the weekend. In Sunday afternoon’s loss he hit a sacrifice fly in his long trip to the plate. Saturday night, Chavis hit a game-tying 2-run home run in bottom of the 8th inning. This gave him 3 home runs on the season.

In the series, Chavis was 3-for-8 including his home run. Chavis drove in a total of 4 runs in the series as he continues to make a push to be in the starting lineup of the Pittsburgh Pirates every single day.

Factor in Yoshi Tsutsugo struggling immensely at the plate, while also looking lost/overmatched most of the time, and the argument for Chavis to start every day just continues to grow. If Chavis continues to do what he’s done then the Pittsburgh Pirates will have to find a way to him in the lineup daily.
