Justin Meis shoves for Greensboro

High-A Greensboro cruised to a 9-2 victory over the Asheville Tourists. With the win, the High-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates improved to 27-37 on the season.

Local product Justin Meis turned in his best start yet at the High-A level on Wednesday. He pitched 6 scoreless innings, allowing 3 hits walking a pair and striking out 8. This start came after he allowed 8 earned runs in just 2/3 of an inning pitched across his first two High-A starts.

Eddy Yean followed Meis, allowing 2 runs on a pair of walks and a home run in the 7th inning. This continues Yean’s poor season as he now owns a 7.96 ERA on the season. Cam Junker on the other hand continued his strong season. He lowered his ERA to 3.24 by pitching 2 scoreless innings out of the Grasshopper bullpen.

Leadoff man and right fielder Sammy Siani was 2-for-4 with a walk and a RBI. Endy Rodriguez started in left field going 2-for-5, with both of his this going for doubles to give him 12 on the season. Rodriguez drove in a run and scored twice.

Jacob Gonzalez was 1-for-4 with a walk and 2 RBI. Hudson Head hit his 3rd home run of the season and Dariel Lopez hit his 9th home run of the season for the Grasshoppers.
