Pens, Steelers, Bucs Nail Trifecta. Jack Wilson on DL

What an incredible day for Pittsburgh fans.  It’s been a long time since this happened in our city.  The Pens, Steelers, and Bucs all had wins today.  Well, I know I am stretching it with the Steelers… I am just a fan of their pick in the NFL Draft along with the decision to sign Hines Ward to an extension that will allow him to retire a Steeler.

The Padres put on their expansion jerseys for the first time in 40 years.  A retro chocolate brown and mustard.  The stirrups were especially groovy.  The only disappointment for the sold out crowd at the world’s largest ball yard (just seems that way) was their beloved Padres played just like an expansion team in losing to the Pirates.  Zach Duke was pulled after 8.1 impressive innings.  He was masterful in striking out five.

Evan Meek, recalled from the minors, when Craig Hansen was placed on the DL today, threw two pitches and recorded two outs to finish off the ninth.

The Pirates were without well, that would be a lot to type, they were shorthanded.  So let’s just say the offense didn’t miss them as Craig Monroe, Eric Hinske, well, the entire lineup contributed as the Pirates put it on ’em.

After the game it was announced that Jack Wilson was placed on the DL and Brian Bixler who was killing the ball was recalled from Indy.

Heal quickly Doumit, McLouth, Hansen, and Wilson, this season has been so much fun.

The Pittsburgh Steelers got another stud, DL Evander Wood from Missouri.  ‘Ziggy the Biologist’ will likely ”see the grass,” said Coach Mike Tomlin.

The Steelers moved back into the third round with a trade.  The Broncos gave up two third rounders for the Steelers second and fourth round picks. So this morning will be a fun time to watch the Steelers brass reel in their picks.  Top 10 left on the board from Scout, Inc.  They surely have a mysterious lineman up their sleeve, in their current position, the challenge is they have to wait 14 picks before they can pull the trigger.  Who will it be..WR Derrick Williams? Asher Allen CB Georgia?

Will they package some picks to make yet another move?

The Penguins Max Talbot proved to be the game changer today as the Pens move to the second round in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  I still can’t believe Daniel Carcillo dropped the gloves.  Then the Flyers dropped the game.  Flyers coach John Stevens said, “I just thought Malkin and Crosby almost looked like they took the game over, to be honest with you”.

Keep it classy…
