Bucs Win; Curve Starters Hot

Matt Capps got right back on the bull last night.  He got the save and the Pirates won 7-4.  We don’t want to say we told you so, but our story on Capps early Saturday detailed some of the things that were going on with him.

Did you see Kerrigan with the bandage around Capps eye in the bullpen this afternoon?  Gotta love the witch doctor working on the Pirates closer.  How great was it to see Capps get right back on the bump and close it out tonight?  And how about the bullpen gave the Pirates seven innings of one run baseball after the rain delay.

Delwyn Young certainly looks comfortable in the lineup doesn’t he?

The Pirates catchers are hot.

Brandon Moss is on fire.  This kid is for real.

Pedro Alvarez had two more RBI last night going 1-for4.

Garrett Jones is getting his April stroke back.  His two run shot last night helped the Indians inch closer to .500.  Some nice starting pitching from Ty Taubenheim as he tossed a four hitter over 7IP and the bullpen kept Syracuse off the scoreboard including a scoreless ninth inning from Chris Bootcheck who earned his fifth save.  [AAA Indy Indians Home Page]

Some video highlights  including the Jones homer and a sweet Neil Walker to Shelby Ford to Steve Pearce double play. [Indians]

Don’t look now, but Altoona SS Brian Friday is hitting .455.

We absolutely love this kid as we said earlier this year.  If you missed the story from my hometown paper here it is. [CDT]

The Curve won 8-0.  The second game was rained out and rescheduled as doubleheader for today.  Curve starters have allowed only 12ER over the last 60 IP.

Pirates grab P Eric Hacker.   Another Yankees pitcher.  The big news here is that Phil Dumatrait was moved to the 60 day DL to make room for him.  Ughh, not good. [Pirates.com]
