Pirates Send a Baby Gift: Roberts Won’t Be in Uniform for Diamondbacks Tonight Against Pirates

facebooktwitterreddit

Arizona Diamondback Ryan Roberts is pulling a Garrett Jones.  Minus the neck ink.   Roberts came out of the Texas baseball program, picked by the Blue Jays, FA in 2008 and went to the Rangers.  Roberts slid over to the Diamondbacks in the off season.

Roberts had a great spring training and made the DBacks ballclub.  He was assigned to the Reno Aces.  God, how nice would he have been in a Pirates uniform…just like Garrett Jones?  I would have loved to see him in the black and gold rather than CRUSHING our pitching staff.

Roberts has made the most of the opportunity, just like Jones has for the Pirates.  The Diamondbacks traded Felipe Lopez last month and Roberts has jumped into the second base position and hasn’t looked back.  Sound familiar?

Tonight at PNC Park the Pirates won’t have to worry about Roberts.  Finally.  Mercifully, perhaps, Roberts has left to be with his wife who is expecting a baby.

Somewhere, Joe Kerrigan and the Pirates pitching staff are smiling.
