Come Home Quick Pirates! Reds KO Bucs 5-3.

The Pirates struck out 13 times against Red Machine pitchers. The Big Red Machine kept rolling over the Pirates completing a sweep of the four game series.

Garrett Jones hit the 10,000 home run in Pirates history. Jones’ 18th homerun of the year gives him serious turbo in the chase for Rookie of the Year honors. The ROY is keeping many Pirates interested in this team. The Bucs are 18-50 on the road.

Brandon Moss hit his seventh homer of the year in the fifth inning to tie the game at two.

Brandon Phillips who was 8-for-13 in the series, hit his 19th homer of the year (broken wrist and all) to lead the Red Legs. Ryan Doumit had an RBI double in the sixth to score Lastings Milledge.

Eight Reds came to the plate in the sixth inning when the Reds grabbed the lead for good. The Reds bullpen was solid and wrapped up this one in quick order to send the Pirates back to Pittsburgh. Thank God.

The Cardinals come to PNC Park Friday night for a three game series. Ugh. But it is Dollar Dog Night.
