From the Arizona Fall League, Pirate lefthander Donnie Veal went 1–0 with a 0.00 ERA during the Arizona Fall League last week and was named the league’s Pitcher of the Week.  In two starts with the Scottsdale Scorpions, he surrendered five hits and two walks while striking out seven batters in 7.2 innings of work.

Donnie currently leads Fall League starters with a 0.71 earned-run average (12.2ip/1er), while ranking fifth overall in that department.  He is also tied for the league lead with two wins, ranks second in opponent batting average (.159) and third in WHIP (0.71).

In case you didn’t see the first post on Veal that Rumbunter did here it is….this is why we feel compelled to cheer just a little bit harder for Donnie Veal.

Do you remember the AFL MVP last year?

CF Jose Tabata went 3-for-5 for the Scorpions. Tabata raised his average to .348, stole another base and had an outfield assist when he threw a runner out at second base.

Spring Training can’t start fast enough.
