The Pittsburgh Steelers are trying out veteran QB’s Patrick Ramsey and Todd Bouman in the South Side facilities this week. Gulp.  Both are veteran journeyman.  Ramsey recently played for the Titans and Bouman for the Jaguars.

Bouman was signed by the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 1997.  Yeh, he’s up there.  He played college ball at St. Cloud State. Bouman also played for the hold your breath now, Saints, Packers, Rams, Ravens.  He was a backup to Aaron Brooks and then was released in favor of Jamie Martin.  He then became Mr. Insurance policy as he was signed by the Jags when Garrard went down, the Rams when Gus went down, the Ravens went Boller went down.  The Ravens again this year in March, before being released when the Ravens signed John Beck.   [Bouman wiki]

Ramsey was the Redskins 32nd pick in the 2002 draft.  He was all everything at Tulane.  He was the Skins starter under Joe Gibbs.  He was traded in 2006 to the Jets but was unable to unseat Chad Pennington.  He then was signed by the Broncos and served as Jay Cutler’s backup before being cut in March of this year.  The Titans signed him and he earned the backup job to Vince Young/Kerry Collins before being released when CB Cary Williams was signed from the practice squad on October 3rd.    [Ramsey Wiki Link]

Big Ben Roethlisberger is going to play Sunday. Trying to keep him off the field is a challenge the Steelers will not make, no matter how much sense it makes. “Ben’s always banged-up,” middle linebacker Ray Lewis said. “Ben is one of those warriors, man, who’s just going to come out and just play football no matter what the situation is, no matter how he’s feeling. Their heartbeat starts with Ben Roethlisberger. So, I’m definitely expecting to see him.”
