Superman Has Arrived In Pittsburgh, His Name is Pedro Alvarez

facebooktwitterreddit

The Pittsburgh Pirates put on another offensive showcase last night against the Milwaukee Brewers.  The Bucs sent 13 hitters to the plate in the first inning and plated nine runs off Brewers starter Dave Bush.   It certainly appears that Superman has arrived in Pittsburgh. Of course, Superman would be Pedro Alvarez.  He hit two homers and drove in five runs to lead the Bucs over the Brew Crew.

The first home run came on a 2-2 hanging breaking ball and Pedro sent it into the right field bleachers.  Ah, that was sweet to watch while sitting in Charm City.  Alvarez is now hitting .243 with five homers and 17RBI in his 17RBI.

Pedestrian you say? Consider the month of July Pedro is having, .316/.391/.649/1.040 OPS

–Much has been made of the Orioles struggles.  In the Baltimore hotel I am enjoying tonight, a Rays fan on the elevator said, “I just can’t imagine an organization losing 12 years in a row.”    You will be proud to know I shared our struggle.
