Charlie Morton Has Electric Stuff-Wink Wink

Pittsburgh Pirates right hander Charlie Morton threw some serious fastballs. At times, it was nothing but four seamers and an occasional two seamer.

After three innings, Morton had thrown

46 pitches.

He had 27 strikes and 19 balls. The Pirates were trailing 1-0. Fifty percent of his pitches were four seam fastballs some were hitting 94/95 on MLB Gameday.  He had walked two, allowed two hits, and a run.

Sooner or later, it was coming.  Who better to start the onslaught than Adam Dunn?   Dunn hit a bomb, his 34th, to lead off the fourth inning and two more Nationals hits brought out a visit from the coach.

It was nothing exceptional by the Nats.  It was nothing exceptional by the Pirates defense.  It was simply Charlie.

The pain wouldn’t end and with Morton ahead of Ian Desmond with a 1-2 count he fired a 95 mph four seamer that Desmond hit for a single to make it 4-0 Nats.

Ryan Zimmerman hit an 0-2 slider from Morton to make it 6-0.

Morton and the electric stuff were knocked out.   Morton got two swing and misses against the Nationals.
