Pirates Teammates Weigh In On Pedro Alvarez

One of the things

that sucked the most about PirateFest was slugger Pedro Alvarez wasn’t in attendance.   It certainly could have put to rest a lot of speculation.

If Alvarez has indeed put on weight, it would be nice to see that player so we could judge for ourselves.  It’s just awkward when people talk about a player who isn’t in attendance.  Especially when that player is Pedro Alvarez.  Pirates fans are very excited for Pedro to destroy National League pitching and most fans I spoke with were concerned about their star third baseman.

What didn’t suck was his Pirates teammates had his back.  We spoke to another teammate that was in attendance at the wedding and they couldn’t understand the statements being made.  When we asked if it looked like Alvarez was overweight the resounding answer was no.

It’s a strange situation.  Where is TMZ with the wedding coverage?

Pirates reliever Joel Hanrahan sent this out on Twitter tonight.

Paul Maholm spoke to us on Friday night and defended his thirdbaseman.  [We have a video forthcoming of the interview which shows the emotion which Maholm spoke about Alvarez.
