Video: Pirates Andrew McCutchen Does Bad Things Against Rays

When we walked into McKechnie Field

for the home opener of the Pittsburgh Pirates Grapefruit League seaon, the first player we saw was Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen.  He was smiling like only McCutchen can.  It was a sign of things to come.

McCutchen was everywhere all day long for the Pittsburgh Pirates.  He was the star of the boxscore and a slugging machine from the three hole in a Pirates lineup that needs every ounce of power to compete in 2011.

Pittsburgh Pirates fans love McCutchen and he drew the loudest cheers from the fans all afternoon.   McCutchen batted three times.  He hit a bomb, a single, a double, he scored all three times and swiped a base when everyone in the yard knew he was going, but couldn’t stop him.

The only person that could stop McCutchen on this glorious day under the Florida sunshine was Clint Hurdle.  The Bucs skipper pulled Cutch from the lineup before he could hit a triple for the cycle.  The Tampa Rays were thrilled to see him go.
