Pirates Morton vs Reds II, End The Streak Again Charlie

Charlie Morton

was dominant the last time on the mound at Great American Ballpark. Morton pitched a complete game. He had three 1-2-3 innings. The sinker was repeatedly thrown and repeatedly pounded into the ground by the Reds.

Reds shortstop Edgar Renteria shit his pants watching a Morton curve for a backward K. He said afterward “I didn’t see it..,” probably because he was concerned about how he was going to explain the accident in his pants to his teammates.

If you recall the victory ended a four-game Bucs losing streak and saw the Pirates bats come to life with four doubles and a pair of bombs as they rolled with fourteen hits. They will face Bronson Arroyo again tonight in a repeat pitching matchup.  The Pirates bats sent the right hander to the shower after recording  12 outs and tossing 92 pitches.

The rested Pirates need a win desperately.  Morton could be called something of the Bucs ace in doing so.  Stringing wins together is something Morton hasn’t done in his career.  How he handles the assignment tonight will be fun to watch.

Do it.

Do it for every Pirates fans favorite Reds announcer Charlie.
