Pirates Caffeine: Jameson Taillon SAL Top Pitching Prospect

facebooktwitterreddit

The Pittsburgh Pirates are nearly out of games, but the news keeps grinding along.  We saw these links over at BucsDugout from Vlad and WTM and didn’t want you to miss them.

It’s hard to ignore the excitement being created around Jameson Taillon.  Especially  when opposing managers saw positive things about his performance and he is ranked as the top pitching prospect. Reading this list of prospects is like a who’s who. Each of them had very impressive seasons, seeing Taillon in the top five made my day.

A.J. Cole of the Hagerston Suns (Nats) was simply dominating when we saw him this season.  Callis has him at number 11.

Starling Marte.  Good lord this kid could make a huge difference for the Pittsburgh Pirates. It’s still hard to believe $85K got this talent. The Dominican rules.

I am not convinced we will see Marte in 2012 unless he just destroys AAA.   God I hope I am wrong, but the breaking pitch weakness scares the hell out of me.

While we are in the linkfest mode this was interesting the other day as well….
