Pirates Notes: Presley Back, McPherson Got Injection, Inge Could Be Down Another Week

The pregame notes for the Pittsburgh Pirates include numerous player notes.  Kyle McPherson saw a doctor in Pittsburgh today and received a “shot in the arm.”  McFear will be down for a couple of weeks and be re-evaluated.  Let’s trust McPherson gets some good news.

The Pirates have optioned RHP Phil Irwin back to Triple-A Indy and have called back Alex Presley.  The Bucs lacked speed on their bench and Presley can provide that, but he was also hitting for some power while in AAA.

In the seven games Presley was with Indy, he hit .357 with two doubles and a home run.  Presely drove in two and had a .400 OBP and a .936 OPS.   Presley walked twice, but also struckout eight times in his 28 at-bats. The swifty outfielder reached base safely in all seven games, hit safely in six and went 2-for-4 in the last game he played on Saturday.

Rob Biertempfel tweeted that Clint Hurdle said Brandon Inge could be down until the assignment time was up which would be in line with what Neal Huntington said yesterday, but off base from what Greg Brown mentioned.

"#Pirates Hurdle said INF Brandon Inge (shoulder) could remain on rehab stint with AAA Indy until it expires April 24."
