Pittsburgh Pirates GM, Neal Huntington wins hard

Pittsburgh Pirates GM Neal Huntington joined us on the RumBunter Podcast to talk about the 2013 season.  The Pirates completed their best season in twenty years, but it is obvious that the Bucs’ commander has put the 2013 season in the rear view mirror.

The discussion is detailed and lengthy, with topics including the Pirates successes and failures, the status of the leadership, and general roster discussion including the 2014 pitching staff.

We especially enjoyed his take on the failures of the team in 2013.  Huntington even attempts to come up with a theme song for the 2013 season and the concept is one we agree with entirely.  It’s almost scary.

Jameson Taillon’s injury is discussed and listen closely to how Huntington describes the possible,  perfect world impact of missing time in the Arizona Fall League.

A.J. Burnett is discussed, including some hilarious comments about the off-the-field moments that only Burnett can and would do.  Of course, Burnett’s possible return to the team in 2014 is a hot topic.  Huntington answers some rapid fire questions about the 40-man roster and the upcoming Pirates Rule 5 draft.

Gregory Polanco is playing winter ball and Huntington talks about what the organization looks for from players who play in the offseason.

We want to thank Neal and ALL the players who came on the Podcast this season, but most of all, we want to thank YOU for helping make us a success. You’re why we do this damned thing in the first place!
