Read on for an overview of the past week’s transactions in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization:

There was a lot of movement in the Pittsburgh Pirates bullpen this week for a variety of reasons.

May 22 – Right handed pitcher Trevor Williams is assigned to Bradenton (A-Advanced) for a rehab start. Williams had been placed on the 7-day disabled list on April 16, retroactive to April 14.

May 24 – Right handed relief pitcher Ryan Vogelsong is placed on the 15-day disabled list. Vogelsong was hit in the head with a pitch in the 2nd inning on May 23 against the Rockies and suffered facial fractures around his left eye and an injury to the same.

May 25 – Right handed relief pitcher Arquimedes Caminero was placed on the 15-Day Disabled List with a “left quad strain. It is generally assumed that this move was actually made in response to Caminero’s likely unintentional hitting of two Diamondback’s batters in the head during the May 24 game against Arizona, rather than an actual injury.

May 25 – The Pittsburgh Pirates recall right handed relief pitcher Rob Scahill from Indianapolis (AAA). This move was made in conjunction with Watson and Caminero being removed from the active roster.

May 25 – The Pittsburgh Pirates recall left handed relief pitcher Kyle Lobstein from Indianapolis (AAA). This move was made in conjunction with Watson and Caminero being removed from the active roster.
