Frustration Runs High When Pirates Manager Ends 7 Game Hitting Streak

I looked at the lineup for the game and in SGT Hartman’s words said, ”you gotta be shittin me!?”

Oh really?  Well you selfish man.  YOU are frustrated?  Well you’re not alone kid.  We are frustrated by your lineup.  And maybe the players are frustrated too..it certainly looked like it tonight.

In case you pay attention to these things, body language was bad.  Maybe the players don’t understand the lineup either.

Explain again why Vazquez got the start at third last night over LaRoche who had a seven game hitting streak?   You started a guy who is hitting below .200 rather than a hot bat who is destined for a future in Pittsburgh?  That doesn’t help your offense.

Did LaRoche do something to piss you off?  I sure trust he said something to you when you pinch hit for him two nights ago.  I sure trust this benching wasn’t a knee jerk reaction if he did.

BECAUSE IT MAKES NO SENSE.

Explain why Hinske was the DH?  A lifetime .254 in 88 games with five homers and 25 RBIs.  A whopping .238 hitter this year.   And why does Hinske hit fifth?

Explain why the infield was back on Podsednik’s lifeless grounder that scored Ramirez for the first run of the game?

Freddy was swinging at everything in sight.  He is in a funk, like 5-for36, give him a day off.  And screw what people think.

Gavin Floyd was filthy tonight.

Zach Duke pitched well.  He continued to throw that nasty curve early in the count.  But in my opinion those three double play balls kept this one close.

Two things from DK and Pirates Notebook:

1.  Gorzo mentions the communication from the Pirates.  I think when people stop talking to you, it should be a sign fella.

2.  I hope we gave them a really nice and crisp dollar bill for Delwyn Young.  Krebs had a live arm, but remember there was that shutdown he had in Hawaii.  [PGNotebook]
