Having Conquered the NFL, Big Ben Sets His Sights on US Open’s Bethpage Black Today
By Tom Smith
What hasn’t Big Ben done in the NFL?
Out of towners, Roethlisberger is that man you love to hate isn’t he. He can do it all. And he did it to your team didn’t he? Oh, everyone in Pittsburgh just loves to soak in the spoils of the Steelers record sixth Super Bowl victory.
Thus, having mastered the art of throwing a football and breaking the hearts of countless NFL fans in cities throughout our great country, including yours, Big Ben will take off those two monster Super Bowl rings and grab his sticks today.
He will
attempt to
break 100 on the US Open course in Farmingdale, New York. He will play the course from the pro tees. All 7,366 yards of it.
The Golf Digest U.S. Open Challenge is set to tee off in a few minutes, and the 18-hole round will be aired as a 90-minute special June 21 on NBC, before the final round of the 109th U.S. Open championship.
“This is an amazing opportunity for a guy who loves golf; a chance to play with Michael Jordan and Justin Timberlake on Bethpage Black and on a U.S. Open setup,” Roethlisberger told the New York Times. “Really, my goal on a course like that will be to break 100. If I shoot 99, I’ll be happy. Of course, I’d love to break 90, and I’ll definitely be trying to do that.”
You read it here. He will do it. With Rocco Mediate on his bag, it will be another monumental success for Big Ben. And also Bob Ford, the Head Pro at Oakmont in Pittsburgh where Ben spends a lot of time working on his game.
Having witnessed Ben’s golf skills, this one will be difficult but I look for Ben to shoot an 88.
Oh yeah, good luck to the other players in his foursome…MJ (Fred Couples on the bag) and Justin Timberlake (Butch Harmon on the bag.) Timberlake with a 98 and Dallas QB Tony Romo with an 84 were successful last year in the event. Yeh, that Tony Romo…seriously he didn’t choke.
One word of advice to MJ and the man that brought sexy back, try not to stare too long at those monster drives off Ben’s Sasquatch…Ben is definently long off the tee.
We have some concerns with Ben’s short game. But his last pass with the world watching was a nice short one wasn’t it? I feel his next short putt will be dead on as well. We say it will be. I have a feeling the world will be shouting NOOOONAN!
But you’re certainly not going to bet against Ben are you?
And what’s next for the City of Champions? Will Sidney Crosby take up field goal kicking?
