The Altoona Curve have a record of 24-45.  Thankfully, the Nationals are worse.  Or the Pirates AA farm team would be the worst team in baseball.

Don’t fear  Virginia Altoona there is a Santa Claus and his name is Pedro Alvarez.  And the second half of the season is one you will remember for a long time.

Your Altoona Curve just got a whole lot better today.  The worst team in minor league baseball could make a turn around as sharp as the horseshow curve itself.

The Altoona Curve announced that Pedro Alvarez joins the club today along with guest stars Michael Dubee, Dustin Molleken and stud outfielder Miles Durham.

Dubee and Molleken fit the Pirates mold.  Check this monster domination stat line.

Dubee, son of the Phillies Pitching Coach, 53K, 3BB.  0.80 WHIP

Molleken, 42K, 8BB, 1.08WHIP

Durham has an .838OPS and .490 Slugging.  He will join the Curve when he completes his commitment at the All-Star game.  Pedro doesn’t have time for such nonsense.  He has a new team to turn around.

The Hillcats, who won the first half with Pedro, are off to their best start in seven years.  They are now left without the dramatic thirdbaseman and the solid relief core.  MVP candidate Durham will also leave a hole in the Lynchburg lineup.  However, starting pitching has been solid and although we look for them to sorely miss Durham and Alvarez, Rumbunter still picks Lynchburg to take the League.

It just won’t be as easy without the four studs moving up the ladder.

The Curve’s next home game will be June 26, 27, 28.  Buy some beer Altoona, the ‘Burgh is on it’s way!

And Virginia, Lynchburg that is…don’t be sad, you will have Pedro Alvarez bobblehead nights for years to come.  Thank you for taking care of our future star.  We owe you a beer, I mean a sweet tea.
